AJK: Eight products of a famous food company found substandard, banned

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Several products of a famous food company have been found substandard in laboratory testing.

Subsequently, the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Food Authority issued an order to recall the goods immediately along with a heavy fine.

The Food Authority has stated that there can be no compromise on the quality of food items related to children.

According to details, in the testing conducted under AJK Pure Food Regulations 2019, eight products of K.K. Foods didn’t meet the labeling criteria and were declared Unsatisfactory on Labeling.

Food items to be recalled

  1. Tarka Chatkardar Nimko Mix
  2. Super Tarka Chatkardar Nimko Mix
  3. Kruncher Premium Nimko Mix
  4. Tarka Dall Muth
  5. Matar Maza Sasi and Crispy
  6. Delight Selection Mix Nimko
  7. Imli Anardana Khatta Mitha Ha Maza Dar
  8. Channa Pakora

According to the Food Authority, the ingredients, information, and necessary labeling requirements were not complete on the packaging of these products, due to which action was taken.

The Authority has imposed penalties on the company under Section 33: Business without licence, and Section 35: Punishment for repeated violations of the AJK Food Authority Act 2017. The company was fined Rs 100,000 for violations.

The Authority has instructed the company to immediately recall all affected products from the market.

“Not For Sale” should be clearly marked on the recalled products. The company has been instructed to correct the labeling completely according to the laws.

Formal approval from the Food Authority must be obtained before future production and distribution in the region.

Food Authority officials have clarified that providing safe and quality food to the public is a top priority, and action against violators will continue indiscriminately.
