AJK President approves promotion of several officers to Grade-20

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The President of Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) Barrister Sultan Mahmood has approved the promotions of five senior officers from Grade-19 to 20.

The promotions were approved based on the recommendations made by Selection Board No. 1 during the meetings held on January 29 and 30.

The separate notifications have been issued by the Service and General Administration Department of the Azad Kashmir government in this regard.

As per details, Tahir Mumtaz, currently posted as Special Secretary Home Department, and Badar Munir, currently posted as Director General Anticorruption Establishment, have been promoted from AJ&K Administrative Service BS-19 to BS-20 in Common Pool Cadre Strength.

Furthermore, Waheed Khan, BS-19, presently attached with S&GAD, has also been promoted to BS-20 in Commissioner & Equivalent Cadre on a regular basis.

AJK President also approved the promotion of Muhammad Younas, Additional Secretary (BS-19), Services & General Administration Department, as Senior Additional Secretary (BS-20) on a regular basis.

In addition to that, Ibrar Azam, officer AJ&K Administrative Service BS-19, presently posted against the post of Director General Civil Defence, has also been promoted to Commissioner & Equivalent Cadre BS-20 on regular basis.

As per the notifications, the promotions are subject to certain conditions, including a one-year probation period in terms of Rule 7 of the AJ&K Civil Servants (Appointment & Conditions of Service) Rules, 1977.

“Non-adherence, unsatisfactory biometric attendance during the probation period may result in reversion of the officer(s),” the conditions added.

The promotions are a significant development in the administrative setup of Azad Jammu & Kashmir, and are expected to bring in new leadership and expertise to various departments.
