MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): A police station in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has registered an FIR against several persons, also nominating a person who was abroad for several years.
Panjgran Police Station registered the FIR against the people who took to the streets to protest lack of basic facilities in Batnara village of Muzaffarabad.
Interestingly, the FIR mentions a person who has been residing abroad for several years. According to initial reports, seven individuals have been arrested, and police teams have also been striving to arrest the remaining accused.
Public circles have expressed concern over the police action and demanded that the issues be resolved instead of harassing general public.
It is worth noting that the protest in Batnara, which began a few days ago due to the unavailability of electricity, had intensified, and the police used lathi charge and tear gas when the protestors blocked the Neelum Highway.
AJK village
The public said that Batnara is the only village in Azad Kashmir where basic facilities like electricity, water, and schools are still not available.
Locals have alleged that politicians always made false promises but never solved their problems.
