MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Minister for Sports Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Asim Sharif Butt may lost his AJK Assembly seat over fake State Subject Certificate, it is learnt.
According to details, Shoukat Shah, who had emerged as the runner-up in the general elections from LA-42 (Valley-III), had challenged the State Subject Certificate submitted by the minister before the Election Commission, in the court of law.
The Supreme Court had sought an inquiry into the matter. According to the sources, Deputy Commissioner Bahaliat AJK was assigned the inquiry.
The sources said that the inquiry into the matter has revealed that the State Subject Certificate submitted by Sports Minister Asim Sharif Butt has proved to be fake.
If proved fake, there are chances of the runner-up (Shoukat Shah in this case) being elected member of the Assembly from the same constituency.
The sources further revealed that Butt turned out to be a resident of Indian city Amritsar.
AJK High Court
It is to mention here that few weeks back, the State Subject Certificates of five Assembly members were challenged in the High Court.
On the other hand, Butt has announced to challenge the report submitted by Deputy Commissioner Bahaliat in the court of law, saying that an earlier report endorsed his claim on the issue.
