MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): In a move highlighting rising security concerns in Azad Kashmir, the President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has called a special session of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.
The session is scheduled for today at 11 AM in Block No. 12 of the Civil Secretariat in Muzaffarabad, as confirmed by an official notification from the Assembly Secretariat.
This session is considered highly important as some terrorists were recently arrested in Azad Kashmir, and the Interior Minister has expressed rising security concerns about possible terrorist activities.
The President of Azad Jammu and Kashmirs (AJK) has called a session of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly today. The Assembly Secretariat has issued a notification in this regard.
According to details, the President has called this important session of the Legislative Assembly for today, Wednesday, at 11 AM. The session will be held at Block No. 12, Civil Secretariat, Muzaffarabad.
Interior Minister Colonel (R) Waqar Noor said in a press conference that legal action is being taken against those who support or shelter terrorists, and that there is solid evidence available in this regard.
Inspector General of Police, Rana Abdul Jabbar, said that the common citizen of Azad Kashmir hates terrorism. During the press conference, journalists were also shown videos of confessional statements by the alleged terrorists.
According to sources, all members of the Assembly, including the opposition, will be briefed on the current situation in Azad Kashmir and the terrorism threats. A joint strategy may also be discussed during the session.
The emergency session takes place amid rising security concerns as authorities recently arrested suspected terrorists along with the Interior Minister issuing warnings about upcoming potential assaults. A thorough briefing regarding the present security scenario will also be provided to government and opposition legislators when they meet for the session.
