AJK High Court orders to produce PTI AJK President Abdul Qayyum on Tuesday

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The High Court of Azad Kashmir on Monday issued an order to produce former AJK Prime Minister Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi on Tuesday in the petition filed against his arrest.

AJK High Court Judge Justice Sardar Ijaz Khan heard the petition filed by Advocate Raja Zaigham Iftikhar on behalf of PTI Azad Kashmir. The court ordered the police to produce the former Prime Minister with the record at 9 am tomorrow.

The court ordered that Sardar Abdul Qayyum should not be handed over to the federation or provinces in any case.

Earlier on Sunday, the Regional President of PTI was arrested by Mirpur police when he was on his way from Samahani to Bhimber to lead a rally ahead of the planned August 5 protest.

Mirpur Police said that the politician was arrested on the orders of the Mirpur deputy commissioner under Section 16 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) for allegedly disturbing public order.

District Magistrate Mirpur said that the former PM has been placed under house arrest for four days till August 06 at the Industrial Area rest house in Mirpur, which has been declared a sub-jail by the deputy commissioner.
