MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Finance Department of the Azad Kashmir government has approved a substantial special/hard area allowance for specialist cadre doctors in four hospitals categorized as “A grade” hardship postings.
According to the letter sent to the AJK Public Health Department, the special allowance of Rs 3 lakh will be disbursed per month to each specialist doctor in addition to their regular salaries. The decision applies to doctors serving under tough conditions in remote regions.
The allowance will be funded from the approved budget of the Public Health Department and aims to attract and retain medical specialists in these underserved, high-need areas, the letter added.
Hospitals eligible for hard area allowance include District Headquarters Hospital Neelum, Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Kel, District Headquarters Hospital Haveli Kahuta, and Tehsil Headquarters Hospital/RHC Leepa.
This move is expected to strengthen healthcare delivery in remote regions and provide due recognition and support to medical professionals working under challenging conditions.
