MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): A tree plantation campaign was launched in Muzaffarabad on Monday aimed at planting 5,000 saplings this monsoon season, with a focus on raising environmental awareness and combating climate change.
According to the official statement, the Forest Department launched the campaign in collaboration with the Organic Growers Parsacha under the leadership of environmental activist Raja Shakeel Khan. The campaign was inaugurated at the Organic Growers Farm Parsacha to promote tree plantation during the rainy season.
Under this campaign, free saplings will be provided to the public, and a volunteer team is also planting saplings in collaboration with the Forest Department.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Divisional Forest Officer Syed Mazhar Naqvi, District Information Officer Sohail Khan, environmental activist Raja Shakeel Khan, local community members, and volunteers.
During the ceremony, saplings were planted, and the importance of tree plantation and environmental conservation was emphasized.
The campaign includes an awareness program through social media and training sessions to educate people about environmental threats and the importance of tree plantation.
Addressing the gathering, the Divisional Forest Officer highlighted the Forest Department’s campaign “Har Bashar Do Shajar” and appealed to the public to not only plant trees but also take care of them, emphasizing the importance of combating climate change.
District Information Officer Sohail Khan emphasized the purpose of establishing “Organic Growers Parsacha” and the need for environmental awareness, highlighting the role of social media in promoting this cause.
