MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Forest Department foiled an attempt to smuggle wood during the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays.
According to the AJK government’s press department, the Muzaffarabad Central Forest Office seized a truck loaded with wood on Monday night.
The Range Officer Shafi Kayani also thwarted a wood smuggling attempt from the Badhal area of the Haveli district and seized a vehicle loaded with wood.
The strict actions were taken on special instructions from Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the govt’s PID said.
“The Forest Department remained active on the day of Eid, and the officers and officials of the department continued to perform their duties,” it added.
