AJK Food Authority suspends two snack companies, imposes heavy fines

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Food Authority suspended and imposed heavy fines on two companies for selling banned snacks.

Earlier, on March 27, the food authority banned several snacks of ‘MUX Food’ and ‘Master Abrar Foods’ after the laboratory reports declared the products unsafe for children.

The order issued by Secretary AJK Food Authority Abdul Hameed Kayani suspended both companies and imposed a fine of Rs. 300,000 each for violating Sections 28 and 25 of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Food Authority Act.

The decision came after the Food Safety Office Bagh found that the banned products of the above companies were being sold in Bagh District.

The order directed the companies to deposit the fine in the office of the District Food Controller/Food Safety Officer, Muzaffarbad.

“All the food safety officers are directed to get all other products of the said companies tested and submit the report to the Food Safety Officer office.
