MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Food Authority, Muzaffarabad, has taken decisive action against distributors selling unregistered and substandard ghee and oil.

Led by District Food Controller Abrar Ahmed Mir and In-charge Food Authority Qazi Shafiqur Rehman, the authority conducted raids and seized unregistered products, imposing heavy fines on non-compliant distributors.

Earlier, the food authority issued notices to all distributors, warning them that selling unregistered oil/ghee without a license or permit and laboratory analysis is against the law under Section 16 of the Food Authority Act 2017 and AJK Pure Regulation 2019.

The authority gave them three days to register their products and prove compliance with the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Pure Food Regulations 2019.

The Food Authority team, acting on instructions, took swift action against distributors who failed to comply with the regulations.

On this occasion, District Food Controller Muzaffarabad Abrar Ahmed Mir emphasizes that providing standard and quality food to the public is the top priority, prioritizing consumer safety and well-being.

The public has been encouraged to report any sale of substandard or unregistered food items by calling the contact number 1280. The Food Authority assures immediate action against food business operators who fail to meet the required standards.
