MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has formally approved a long-awaited risk allowance for employees of Rescue 1122, bringing relief and happiness to workers across the department.

According to official sources, the decision was finalized following cabinet approval, after which a formal notification was issued. Under the new policy, rescue personnel will now receive a regular risk allowance in recognition of their duties in hazardous situations.

For years, Rescue 1122 employees had been protesting and demanding the allowance, arguing that they work around the clock in emergencies, accidents, and natural disasters, often putting their lives at risk.

They maintained that, like other emergency services, they deserved financial compensation for the dangers they face.

Officials stated that the move acknowledges the sacrifices and dedication of rescue workers who serve the public in critical conditions.

Following the announcement, employees welcomed the decision, saying it would ease their financial burdens and significantly boost their morale. They also reaffirmed their commitment to continue serving the public with greater dedication.

It is worth noting that Rescue 1122 staff in Azad Kashmir had staged multiple protests in recent years and had vowed to continue their struggle until the demand for a risk allowance was met.
