MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Ad-hoc employees in Azad Kashmir have announced a protest scheduled for June 20, demanding permanent positions in various government departments.
Addressing a press conference at the Central Press Club, Muzaffarabad today, ad-hoc employees representative Raja Ghulam Jilani, Syed Karamat Sabzwari, and Salik Rashid Abbasi, claimed that approximately 2,632 non-journal employees have been serving on an ad-hoc basis for over 5 to 25 years across different departments.
The ad-hoc employees said that if the government does not issue a notification to make them permanent, they have a plan to stage a protest across the state on June 20.
The speakers said that if any kind of disorder arises during the protest, the government will be fully responsible for it.
In 2021, the government passed legislation to regularize ad-hoc employees, but its implementation has been delayed. Adhoc employees in Azad Kashmir have held previous protests, including a 17-day sit-in in Muzaffarabad, demanding their regularization.
