LAHORE (Kashmir English): The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) intervened to end the stalemate following Pakistan’s insistence that referee Andy Pycroft be taken out of the India-Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 match.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) issued a strong ultimatum, stating it will not play the remaining games if Pycroft is not substituted.
On the other hand, Indian media reported that the ACC is currently exploring the middle ground and has come up with several proposals that it has submitted to the PCB.
Among the proposals being considered is the possibility of Pycroft being excluded only from Pakistan’s matches and Richie Richardson being appointed as the match referee instead of him.
Earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday lodged a complaint to the International Cricket Council (ICC) against match referee Andy Pycroft for ‘no handshake’ during the Pakistan-India Asia Cup encounter.
In a statement on X, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman, who also serves as the Chairman of the Asia Cricket Council (ACC), said that the PCB has asked for the “immediate removal of the match referee” for the Pakistan vs India match in the Asia Cup 2025, hosted in the UAE.
The PCB has filed a complaint with the ICC on behalf of breaches by the Match Referee of the ICC Code of Conduct and the MCC Laws of the Spirit of Cricket,” Naqvi said.
