MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Dr Raja Zahid, Chief Organiser of Tehreek-e-Jawanan Kashmir, has strongly condemned the latest restrictions imposed on the media in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) following the Pahalgam false flag operation. He termed these actions a direct violation of freedom of speech and the international charter of press freedom.
Speaking to the media, Dr Raja Zahid criticised the puppet administration for issuing new orders that severely restrict the coverage of defence matters and the movement of security forces. He said that such censorship is a blatant attack on journalistic freedom and an attempt to hide India’s war-driven agenda from the world.
Despite these measures, Dr Raja Zahid affirmed, that India’s aggressive intentions will eventually be exposed before the international community.
Dr Raja Zahid further stated that the attempt to impose a media blackout after the Pahalgam drama is a clear effort to limit public access to the truth.
He warned that controlling the flow of information could become a dangerous tool to cover up government mistakes and human rights violations. According to Dr Raja Zahid, these actions cannot and should not be ignored by the global community.
Highlighting the worsening situation of press freedom in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Dr Raja Zahid said that journalists are already facing harsh censorship, threats, and even forced disappearances.
He reminded that the United Nations human rights agencies have previously raised concerns about the treatment of journalists, issuing strong policy statements against such violations.
Dr Raja Zahid urged international human rights organisations and global press freedom bodies to take immediate action. He stressed that protecting journalists and ensuring the free flow of truthful information is essential for the world to stay informed about the realities in occupied Kashmir.
In his closing remarks, Dr Raja Zahid reiterated his commitment to continue exposing India’s injustices. He called upon the international community to fulfil its responsibilities in safeguarding human rights and freedom of expression.
