KARACHI (Kashmir English): The National Games, originally to be commenced on May 1 in Karachi, have again been postponed at the eleventh hour owing to certain unexpected situations.

The Sindh Olympic Association has issued a formal notice to all concerned departments declaring the delay mere 13 days ahead of the commencement of the event.

The decision comes as a disappointment among fans considering Sindh had been so looking forward to the chance of hosting the much-desired event given the fact that this would be Sindh’s first hosting of the National Games in 18 years.

Reports indicate that the extreme heat forecasted for May and the ongoing final exams of the intermediate were the two most salient operatives that drove the postponement.

However, people have expressed profound anger stating that the planning committee knew about these things many months ago and therefore should have considered it in their planning.

There were a few insiders that stated the operational plans for the Games were not close to complete, there were still missing vital upgrades at some of the sports complexes and playing fields, the official National Games logo was still not confirmed, and the traditional torch relay had yet to even begin.

The National Games were supposed to have occurred in February, then postponed to May, which was about when the extreme heat was expected.

This postponement has raised questions about the planning process and execution of the National Games, and the followup is how long before the National Games will ultimately occur.
