MANCHESTER (Kashmir English): Raja Shabbir Ahmed, a leader of the Pakistan Peoples’ Party UK, has strongly condemned the visit of Indian Home Minister Amit Shah to the occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement, Ahmed said that India has created an atmosphere of fear and terror in the region to suppress the Kashmir freedom movement.
India targeting Hurriyat leaders in Kashmir
He went on saying that by enforcing black laws, India is targeting Hurriyat leaders and activists, particularly in occupied Kashmir.
He said that under laws such as the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), Public Safety Act (PSA), the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), and other oppressive laws, the homes of Hurriyat leaders, activists, and ordinary Kashmiris are being raided, their properties are being seized, and they are being arrested, detained, and subjected to other atrocities.
The PPP leader said these actions must serve as an eye-opener for the world community.
He further stated that the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir are forced to live under the shadow of Indian oppression.
“Despite using every form of tyranny, India has failed to crush the spirit of freedom among the Kashmiri people.”
He added that on August 5, 2019, India illegally and unconstitutionally revoked the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, which was an attack on the identity of the Kashmiri people.
He appealed to the people of Kashmir to remain organized and united in their rightful struggle.
