Kashmiri women protest against India on World Women’s Day

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Kashmiri women held a protest demonstration against India on World Women’s Day.

A protest procession was organized under the aegis of Pasban-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir to highlight the plight of Kashmiri women on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

According to details, Hundreds of women, girls and other people gathered against Indian atrocities on Kashmiri women and waved black flags besides chanting Anti-India slogans.

The women participating in the demonstration carried banners and placards inscribed with demands for the release of Kashmiri women imprisoned in Indian jails.

The rally was led by Speaker Legislative Assembly Chaudhry Latif Akbar, Chairman Pasban-e-Hurriyat Uzair Ahmed Ghazali, Vice Chairman Usman Ali Hashim, Head of Pasban-e-Hurriyat Women Department Mahnaz Qureshi, leader of Jamaat-e-Islami Amina Saleem, leader of Peoples Party Shagufta Noreen Kazmi, leader of Muslim Conference Samia Sajid and others.

Speaking on the occasion, Ch. Latif Akbar said that Indian brutality on women in Occupied Kashmir is condemnable.

He said that International human rights organizations must come forward to protect the rights of Kashmiri women.

Mehnaz Qureshi said that Kashmiri women demand peace and justice from the countries, organizations and institutions of the world to protect the rights of the oppressed women of Occupied Kashmir.

Indian Army using violence in Kashmir

She said that Indian Army is using violence, sexual exploitation and keeping women in fear as a weapon of war in Occupied Kashmir.

“Women’s rights organizations should play role for the release of Asia Andrabi, Fahmida Sufi, Nahida Nasreen and other Kashmiri women imprisoned in Indian jails”, she demanded.

She stated that More than four million women in Occupied Kashmir are forced to live in an atmosphere of fear and terror created by Indian soldiers.

While addressing the statistics of Indian brutalities, she said that Indian soldiers have made 23000 women widows in Occupied Kashmir.

“There are still 2700 semi-widow women in Occupied Kashmir whose husbands have been disappeared by Indian soldiers since long”, she lamented.

Amina Saleem said that Indian soldiers committed the worst war crime against women in Kunnan poshpura.

“Indians brutally killed Nilofar of Shopian, Asia and innocent Asifa of Kathua”, she added.

Riffat Farooq said that Indian soldiers sexually exploited more than 11500 women in Occupied Kashmir.

She stated that more than 20 women of Occupied Kashmir have been imprisoned in Indian jails and they demand their release.

Women participating in the International Women’s Day rally marched from Burhan Wani Shaheed Chowk to Gharipan Chowk and demanded the international human rights organization to safeguard the rights of Kashmiri women under Indian occupation
