ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Speakers at a seminar in Islamabad emphasized the significant role of academia in advancing the Kashmir cause through dedicated research and intellectual discourse.

They also urged the international community to take active steps towards resolving the Kashmir dispute.

The seminar, titled ‘Kashmir Solidarity Program: Global Silence and Pakistan’s Responsibility,’ was organized by the Dawah Centre for Women, International Islamic University Islamabad.

The event attracted a diverse audience, including students, faculty members, and researchers, who engaged in discussions on the urgent need for global intervention in the Kashmir crisis.

Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed, President of IIUI; Dr. Faryal Umbreen, Focal Person IIUI; Hurriyat leaders Shameen Shawl and Zahid Safi; Prof. Dr. Nazir Hussain, Member of the Board of Directors RCSS, Colombo; Prof. Dr. Amna Mahmood; Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed; Mohydin Ahmed Wani, Secretary of the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training; and Prof. Dr. Muhtar Ahmed, Chairman of HEC and Rector IIUI, were among the key speakers at the event.

Kashmir dispute

Nearly, nine lakh Indian army deployed at every nook and corner of the disputed territory has turned it into a living hell for its citizens. Indian occupation forces were also involved in war crimes.

Despite using all means of oppression, the Indian government has miserably failed in its nefarious designs aimed at suppressing the Kashmiris’ ongoing freedom struggle.

India must bear in mind the fact that it cannot subdue Kashmiris by the dint of its military might.

The Kashmiri are optimism that their matchless sacrifices would never go in vain.

It was quite unfortunate that the international community has not shown the level of interest and vigour to resolve the lingering Kashmir issue, which it had shown to resolve other world disputes.

The global community should play its due role to help stop the ongoing bloodshed and human rights violations in Indian occupied Kashmir.
