ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): In a major political development, Jamiat Ulema-e-Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday officially announced its electoral alliance with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) ahead of the upcoming general election.
The religious party has ended its previous alliance with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
The announcement was made during a meeting held in Islamabad, attended by Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs Amir Muqam, President PML-N Azad Kashmir Shah Ghulam Qadir, and Ameer of Jamiat Ulema-e-J&K Maulana Imtiaz Ahmed Siddiqui.
While speaking on the occasion, Maulana Imtiaz Ahmed Siddiqui said that in the current political situation, an alliance with the PML-N is the need of the hour, and Jamiat Ulema-e-J&K will play a full role for the success of the candidates of the PML-N in the upcoming elections.
With his announcement, the workers present in the meeting raised enthusiastic slogans of “Allahu Akbar”, “Pakistan Zindabad,” and “Sher Aaya Sher Aaya”.
On this occasion, Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs Amir Muqam welcomed the decision of Jamiat Ulema-e-Jammu and Kashmir and said that this alliance is not only a reflection of political but also ideological harmony.
He said that the PML-N is emerging as a strong political force in AJK, and the trust of various political and religious parties in the leadership of the PML-N is increasing.
According to political analysts, the separation of PTI and Jamiat Ulema-e-J&K is being considered a major change in the politics of Azad Kashmir. Observers say that due to the religious vote bank and organizational influence, this alliance can change the political outcomes of many constituencies in the upcoming election.
