ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English):  Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Barrister Gauhar Ali Khan’s WhatsApp account has been hacked, after which the hacker has started making financial demands from his acquaintances.

After this serious cyber attack, Barrister Gauhar has immediately instructed all his contacts to be alert.

Barrister Gauhar confirmed in his statement that his WhatsApp has been hacked. He said, “I have reported it to the FIA and have also informed the Ufone administration.

In addition, an email has also been sent to the WhatsApp authorities.” He added that as soon as he came to know about the account being hacked, he immediately deleted the WhatsApp application from his mobile.

Barrister Gauhar says, “Although there was nothing (personal data) in my phone, there were many groups in this account that contained highly sensitive information.” He expressed concern that hackers could misuse data by accessing these groups.

Barrister Gohar has warned all his contacts and the public that a hacker is asking for money in his name, so do not act on any suspicious message or financial request.

He is taking further steps to increase the security of his digital accounts, and security agencies have also been fully informed about the incident.

WhatsApp Advance Privacy Features

WhatsApp has decided to introduce an advanced privacy feature, under which messages will be automatically deleted after reading.

The aim of this initiative is to provide users with more control over their private conversations and make the protection of sensitive information more effective.

According to report, this feature is being introduced under the name “After Reading”, which is currently in the development stages and may be available to users in the future through future updates.

Under this feature, as soon as the recipient opens and reads a message, that message will automatically disappear from the chat after a limited time.

Moreover, even if a message is not opened, it will be automatically deleted after a specified period of time, so that unnecessary or unread messages do not accumulate in the chat.

Importantly, this feature will work effectively even if read receipts are turned off, meaning the app will automatically detect when the message has been opened and start the deletion process.

Currently, WhatsApp has different durations available for disappearing messages, but this new feature will be especially beneficial for users who want to share sensitive information, such as one-time passwords or personal data, only for a limited time.

Overall, this move is part of WhatsApp’s strategy to further strengthen user privacy, which will not only improve data security but also make digital communication more secure and reliable. However, more time is still needed for the final availability of this feature.
