NADRA identifies KP CM Sohail Afridi in May 9 attack

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has confirmed the identification of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and other accused in the case related to the attack on Radio Pakistan Peshawar on May 9.

According to the NADRA, the accused were identified through the Facial Recognition System (FRS), and a report has been submitted to the Anti-Terrorism Court.

The identified individuals include CM KP Sohail Afridi, Amir Chamkani, PTI Peshawar President Irfan Saleem, Kamran Bangash, and Taimur Jhagra, who were present during the attack.

Earlier, the Punjab Forensic Science Laboratory also verified the involvement of Sohail Afridi in the attack after completing its forensic analysis of videos related to the May 9, 2023, riots.

The report, prepared after Peshawar Police wrote to Punjab Police on the orders of the Peshawar High Court, confirmed the presence of top PTI leaders. These include Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, Kamran Bangash, Taimur Jhagra, and Irfan Saleem.

The analysis was based on a USB drive submitted by the Sharqi police station, which contained 16 videos that were examined frame by frame.

In two videos, evidence of clip joining was found involving Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and Irfan Saleem, the report said. Images of Sohail Afridi, Irfan Saleem, Kamran Bangash, and Taimur Jhagra were compared and matched with the people seen in the May 9 videos.
