ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) on Thursday announced a daily allowance of $115 for each player of the national hockey team ahead of the Men’s FIH Pro League.
The sports board has directed the finance department to release the payments ahead of the team’s departure to ensure players do not face any inconvenience during their international assignment.
Talking to the media today, PSB Director General Muhammad Yasir Pirzada said that the daily allowance has been approved as per the budget sanctioned by the government, and this decision will be applicable to Pakistan’s participation in the FIH Pro League.
Pirzada said that despite financial difficulties, PSB has re-allocated funds from various sources and arranged payments for the foreign tour so that better arrangements can be made for the players.
National hockey team captain Imad Butt welcomed the announcement and thanked the PSB Director General for personally addressing the concerns of the players.
Imad Butt said that the discussions held earlier on various issues have yielded positive results. He said that the new daily allowance approved under the current government budget is appropriate and, most importantly, the issue of daily allowance has been resolved.
The Pakistan hockey team will take on Australia on February 10, Germany on February 11, Australia again on February 13, and Germany on February 14 in the second phase of the FIH Pro League.
