MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): A major development has come to the fore for the aspirants of government jobs in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, where the Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has issued a formal notification relaxing the upper age limit for government jobs.

This notification was issued by the Services and General Administration Department, Azad Jammu and Kashmir Government, on December 31, 2025, from Muzaffarabad.

According to the notification issued, the upper age limit for getting government jobs in Azad Jammu and Kashmir has been increased, and now candidates will be eligible for government jobs up to 41 years.

This decision was approved in the 35th meeting of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet, which was held on December 17, 2025. The notification clarified that the President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has formally approved this age relaxation in light of the decision of the Cabinet.

According to the text of the notification, this age relaxation will apply to all government service departments in Azad Jammu and Kashmir; however, some important departments are exempted from it.

The notification clearly states that this age relaxation will not be applicable in the Police Department, Prisons Department, and Emergency Service Rescue 1122.

According to the notification, this decision has come into effect immediately and will remain in force till the end of the tenure of the current government. This measure will apply only to government jobs in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
