GILGIT (Kashmir English): Election Commission Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) has called an All-Parties Conference (APC) to consult with all political parties regarding the conduct of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly general elections 2026.

Chief Election Commissioner Gilgit-Baltistan Raja Shahbaz Khan has said that the All-Parties Conference would be held on December 18.

He said the general elections of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly are to be held on January 24, 2026 and the APC was called as part of the efforts to ensure a clean, transparent, fair, and democratic electoral process.

The All-Parties Conference will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Election Commission Secretariat Gilgit-Baltistan office.

He said that heads of all political parties of Gilgit-Baltistan or their authorized representatives will participate in the conference.

The purpose of this meeting is to obtain view point, suggestions, and guidance of political parties on important election-related matters to make the electoral process more effective, transparent, and reliable.

Raja Shahbaz Khan has invited the leaders of all political parties of Gilgit-Baltistan to participate in this important consultative meeting and benefit the Election Commission with their valuable opinions and suggestions.

Chief Election Commissioner’s commitment

The Chief Election Commissioner expressed his commitment that the Election Commission, with the cooperation of all stakeholders, will ensure the conduct of free, fair, and clean elections.

It should be noted that after the Election Commission’s schedule was released, many political leaders expressed concerns about how elections could be held in severe cold and when most people have migrated from the area.

At the request of political leaders, the Chief Election Commissioner has called an All-Parties Conference, in which if political leaders agree, the elections may be postponed for some time, but it is too early to say anything.
