Meeting reviews progress on govt, JAAC agreement implementation

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON, Engineer Amir Muqam, on Thursday, chaired a high-level review meeting regarding the implementation of the agreement reached between the federal government and the Jammu and Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) in Muzaffarabad.

The meeting was attended by Federal Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Ministers of the AJK government, Deewan Ali Khan Chughtai, Chaudhry Qasim Majeed, Secretary Kashmir Affairs Zafar Hassan, and Chief Secretary Azad Kashmir Khushal Khan.

Members of the Awami Action Committee, Shaukat Nawaz Mir, Imtiaz Aslam, and Umar Nazir Kashmiri, also attended the review meeting.

During the meeting, a detailed review was carried out on the implementation of all points of the agreement. Members of the Joint Awami Action Committee briefed the federal minister on their concerns about the pending clauses.

Amir Muqam heard the concerns of JAAC and assured that the federal government is committed to the immediate implementation of the remaining points.

As per the statement, Muqam emphasized that the development of Azad Kashmir and the welfare of its people are the top priorities of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

He added that the federal government has provided ample development funds for AJK and will continue to utilize all available resources for the region’s development and public welfare.

In the meeting, Chief Secretary Azad Kashmir Khushal Khan, while giving a briefing on the progress made on the agreement, said that most of the points related to the Azad Kashmir government have been implemented, while work is also underway on issues related to constitutional amendments.
