SWABI (Kashmir English): Commuters are stranded on both sides of the Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway after the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protesters blocked the road at Swabi.
Stranded passengers said that they had been stuck on the road since the morning and were facing severe problems due to the road blockade.
As a result of the blockade, long queues of vehicles formed, and citizens lashed out at PTI. While around 200 protestors have burnt tires on the motorway, making life miserable for thousands of commuters.
The protesters are said to be demanding a meeting of the incarcerated PTI founder, Imran Khan, with his party leaders, lawyers, and family.
The protest was called by the PTI central leadership at Swabi and outside the Islamabad High Court on Tuesday.
On the other hand, the Adiala jail authorities allowed Imran Khan’s sister, Uzma Khanum, to meet the incarcerated former prime minister.
The media reported that Uzma entered the prison to visit her brother while numerous PTI supporters gathered outside the facility.
This development occurred amid PTI protests outside the Islamabad High Court and Adiala Jail, where they demonstrated against the restrictions on the former prime minister’s visitation rights. The party claimed that the ex-premier’s family and party leaders had been denied access to him for several weeks.
