ISLAMABAD (Kahmir English): Sardar Masood Khan, former Ambassador of Pakistan to the US, China, and the UN, and former President of Azad Kashmir, has warned that India is using Afghanistan as a proxy battlefield to destabilize Pakistan and stretch its security apparatus on the eastern and western fronts.

Speaking to the media, Sardar Masood Khan said that Pakistan has successfully countered terrorism for decades, but new threats have emerged from across our western border, involving a nexus between hostile intelligence agencies and extremist organizations.

He stated that Pakistan’s response should be a manifestation of unity and national resolve, and strategically clear.

He said that after the war on terror, Pakistan became the primary target of cross-border terrorism, despite repeated assurances from the Afghan Taliban that Afghan soil would not be used for terrorism.

Involvement of Indian intelligence agencies

The increase in attacks on Pakistan is contrary to this. He said that evidence indicates the involvement of Indian intelligence agencies operating through proxies in Afghanistan.

Masood Khan said that India’s attempts to isolate Pakistan have failed.

He said that India’s collusion with extremist groups on Afghan soil is part of a broader hybrid strategy aimed at orchestrating attacks from the west along with conventional military pressure from the east to undermine Pakistan’s stability.

He warned about potential Indian adventurism, stating that India might attempt another adventure to restore its reputation after its humiliating defeat in the May 2025 conflict. Pakistan should remain vigilant on both borders, he added.
