ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has said that over 140,000 applicants have registered for the Medical and Dental College Admission Test MDCAT 2025.
The test, previously scheduled on October 5, has now been rescheduled for October 26. It was done to facilitate students in flood-hit areas.
Official records say that 140,071 students have completed the registration this year. Provincial universities will administer the test throughout Pakistan, while an international testing center has been established in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The highest number of applicants was registered in Punjab with 50,443 registrations under the University of Health Sciences, Lahore. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa came in second with 39,964 candidates registered through Khyber Medical University, Peshawar.
Sindh experienced 33,160 candidates under the Sukkur IBA Testing Service. Balochistan had 10,278 applicants appearing through Bolan University of Medical and Health Sciences, Quetta.
Participation in other areas was also robust. Islamabad had 1,146 candidates, while Azad Jammu and Kashmir had 3,322 candidates, and Gilgit-Baltistan witnessed 1,564 candidates, all appearing through Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University. At the same time, 194 students applied for the Riyadh center.
PMDC confirmed that the MDCAT 2025 will be conducted by universities and not the Council. Nevertheless, the Council formulated a standard syllabus and a standardized question bank following consultation with the stakeholders. Universities have to adhere to these guidelines while preparing papers and declaring results.
In the interest of fairness, PMDC is holding talks with the FIA, IB, and police. It was stated by officials that severe action would be taken against cheating or malpractice. Students have been instructed to take only authentic information and not false reports being circulated in the media.
PMDC President Dr. Rizwan Taj urged institutions to make the best arrangements for candidates at both international and provincial centers for the MDCAT 2025 exam.
He called on students to concentrate on hard work, emphasizing that success lies in merit and hard work. He cautioned against wrong means, reminding students that only preparation and commitment will result in admission.
MDCAT continues to be the compulsory entry test for medical and dental colleges in Pakistan. With the exam now scheduled on October 26, candidates have had additional time to prepare for one of Pakistan’s more challenging academic tests.
