ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday approved the bail plea of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan in eight May 9 cases.

A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi and comprising Justices Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui and Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb resumed hearing the petitions today.

Barrister Salman Safdar appeared on behalf of the PTI founder, while Punjab Special Prosecutor Zulfiqar Naqvi represented the state.

Both concluded their arguments, and after this, the CJP announced the decision of the bench. PTI is celebrating the SC judgment, employing the hashtag “Victory For Imran Khan” in its X posting.

A Lahore anti-terrorism court in November 2024 had refused Imran bail in the May 9, 2023, riot cases, including an assault on the Lahore corps commander’s residence.
