Pakistan and the United States have officially signed a major trade agreement aimed at boosting economic ties between the two countries. The deal focuses on increasing trade, improving market access, attracting foreign investment, and enhancing cooperation in key economic areas.
The Ministry of Finance confirmed that the agreement was finalized during a meeting between Pakistan’s Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb and US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick. US Trade Representative Jamison Greer, Pakistan’s Secretary of Commerce Jawad Paul, and Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh also participated in the discussions.
The announcement was made by US President Donald Trump on his social media platform, Truth Social, where he highlighted the importance of stronger relations with Pakistan.
According to an official statement, the new trade agreement will result in a reduction of tariffs, especially on Pakistani products exported to the US. This is expected to significantly improve the country’s trade balance and open up new opportunities for Pakistani exporters.
The deal also marks the beginning of a new phase of cooperation in vital sectors such as energy, minerals, information technology, and cryptocurrency. Officials believe this agreement will help modernize Pakistan’s economy and attract more US investment into infrastructure and development projects.
“This deal is a major step forward in our ongoing efforts to strengthen trade ties with the United States,” said a spokesperson from the Finance Ministry. “Both nations will benefit from improved market access and deeper economic cooperation.”
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar welcomed the agreement on social media, saying, “The trade deal with the US has been finalized, Alhamdulillah.”
The Ministry of Finance called the agreement a reflection of both countries’ leadership commitment to building a stronger economic partnership based on mutual interest and trust.
