SAMAHNI (Kashmir English): In a tragic accident, a fire broke out mysteriously in the house of Chaudhry Liaquat, a resident of Malwana Chanka, a village adjacent to Jandi Chontra, at around 1 am on the intervening night of May 17 and 18.
The fire and smoke quickly spread through the entire house, severely burning four family members. The neighbours nearby and Rescue officials swiftly reached the spot, rescuing the injured people.
The injured were immediately taken to the District Headquarters Hospital Bhimber by ambulances of the Rescue 1122 Unit and the THQ Hospital Samahni, where three wounded were taken to the CMH Hospital Khariyan for further medical assistance.
Chaudry Liaqat’s wife, who received multiple second and third-degree burns all over her body, later succumbed in the hospital.
However, the cause of the fire has not been revealed yet, and an investigation is underway to determine the factor that caused the fire to avoid such a situation future.
Earlier, at least seven shops and two guest houses were completely destroyed in a fire that broke out at a Dowarian market in Neelum Valley in the wee hours, according to the initial reports.
Dowarian is a village in Neelum Valley of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan.
Officials of the emergency response unit reached the spot soon after they were called in to help the locals put out the fire. In the meantime, the Shaarda fire vehicle unit of Neelum Emergency Response also reached the spot.
Emergency Response personnel arrived at the scene at 5:40 am. A Pak Army unit, along with the locals, also helped the emergency unit in controlling the fire. The Fire Brigade managed to douse the flames in about half an hour.
According to the initial reports, seven shops, two guest houses, and two bikes were completely destroyed in the incident.
