MIRPUR (Kashmir English): The 7-day Civil Defence Workshop organized by the Jammu Kashmir United Movement (JKUM) Mirpur Division concluded here in formal ceremony on Friday.
The event drew attendance from various districts, including political leaders, social activists, and media representatives who praised the dedication of the youth participating in the workshop.
Prominent guests included Sardar Babar Hussain (President, JKUM), Sardar Rizwan Hanif (Central Leader, JKUM), Amjad Zubair (President, JKUM Bhimber District), Mufti Abu Muawiz Muhammad Iqrar (Organizer, JK United Welfare Wing Bhimber), Ch. Muhammad Shoaib (Organizer, JKUM Mirpur District), Aamir Zia (General Secretary, JKUM Poonch District), and Haris Dar (Deputy Finance Secretary, Pakistan Markazi Muslim League).
Importance of civil defence training for youth
The guests addressed the attendees and emphasized the importance of civil defence training for youth, particularly in regions prone to natural disasters, accidents, and emergencies.
They highlighted that JKUM is committed to empowering young people with practical skills and a spirit of community service. The active involvement of youth in emergency response and public welfare is not just desirable, it is essential,” said one of the speakers.
“We need a trained and aware generation who not only protect themselves but become a source of support for others in times of need.
Certificates of participation and excellence were distributed among trainees at the end of the session.
Organizers reaffirmed their commitment to continue such skill-based workshops in the future, aiming to build a more prepared, resilient, and socially responsible society.
