MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): In an unusual turn of events, Furqan, a 2-year-old boy from Muzaffarabad, has been granted interim bail by a local court after being named in a police FIR related to a family land dispute.

The case originated from a clash between family members in the village of Shoran, near the capital Muzaffarabad. The fight allegedly erupted due to a dispute over land and pathway where an elderly woman was beaten and received injuries on her head that needed eight stitches.

The Police had registered an FIR against four individuals, including Furqan after the altercation which led to the attention of people. The accused was produced before the Additional Sessions Judge where they were granted interim bail after they submitted surety bonds of Rs. 90,000.

The inclusion of Furqan in the FIR raised serious concerns. After securing bail, the family approached SSP Muzaffarabad and filed a formal complaint, stating that a toddler had been wrongfully named in a criminal case and that an elderly family member had been injured in the conflict.

Taking notice, SSP Riaz Bukhari appointed DSP Parvez Hameed Mughal as the inquiry officer to investigate the matter. The officer has already heard the family’s complaint and has summoned the Station House Officer (SHO) of the concerned police station, along with the full case file.

Authorities are now reviewing the matter, and further action is expected based on the inquiry findings.
