BHIMBER (Kashmir English): On World TB Day, Bhimber, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) health officials organised an awareness walk and seminar to educate the public about free TB diagnosis and treatment.

In observance of World Tuberculosis (TB) Day, the District Health Officer (DHO) Office in Bhimber organised an awareness walk and seminar to educate the public about TB and the importance of early diagnosis and treatment.

The primary objective of this event was to raise awareness among the public about TB and encourage people to seek timely medical assistance. Health experts advised that anyone experiencing a persistent cough and fever for more than two weeks should immediately get a free TB test.

Participants of the awareness walk reaffirmed their dedication to spreading TB-related information to households, ensuring that people understand the importance of early detection and treatment to avoid further complications.

Addressing the event, DHO Bhimber, Dr Iram Batool, Dr Muhammad Abdullah, and Choudhary Mujeeb-ur-Rehman, along with other officials, emphasised that TB is not an incurable disease. They reassured the public that effective treatment is available and that all TB medicines are provided free of charge.

The health officials stressed that anyone showing symptoms of TB-like persistent cough, fever, and weight loss should undergo immediate and free testing. They stressed that the Government of Azad Kashmir offers comprehensive free-of-cost TB diagnosis and treatment services, ensuring that financial conditions do not stop anyone from receiving proper care.

The awareness walk was followed on a designated route before it concluded at the DHO office. There the participants pledged to continue spreading awareness about TB, they also encouraged the people to take a disease as deadly as TB very seriously and seek timely treatment.

By hosting such events, health authorities aim to eliminate and reduce misconceptions about TB, promote early diagnosis and responsible treatment, and ensure that every affected individual has access to life-saving treatment.
