MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Azad Kashmir Central Vice President Syed Zeeshan Haider, during an emergency media talk in Chakar today, strongly condemned the unjustified arrest of former Prime Minister Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi and announced a statewide protest across Azad Kashmir.
He said that the current government has taken this cowardly and cowardly step out of fear of the historic protest organized by PTI on August 5, which is going to be held for the abolition of the special status of occupied Kashmir, the illegal arrest of Chairman Imran Khan, and the restoration of the constitution and democracy in Pakistan.
Syed Zeeshan Haider said in his statement that We are not afraid of arrests and jails. It is our constitutional, democratic, and national duty to raise our voice against oppression and fascism. The August 5 protest is the voice of conscience of the Kashmiri people and the Pakistani nation, which no force can suppress.”
He further said that targeting prominent political leaders like Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi is an immoral, undemocratic, and vindictive act, which is not only an attack on freedom of expression but also an attempt is being made to suppress the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
On this occasion, PTI Constituency 6 Chief Organizer Waqar Sheikh, Divisional Senior Vice President Asif Iqbal Mughal, Tehsil Chakar President Arif Dar, Nasir Awan, Hamza Mir, Daniyal Chaudhry, Tawfiq Chaudhry, Raja Fahad Majeed and other leaders were also present, who expressed solidarity, strongly condemned the arrest and announced their full participation in the statewide protest.
Additionally, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Azad Kashmir Information Secretary Raja Farrukh Mumtaz has reacted strongly to this arrest and has given a two-hour ultimatum to the Azad Kashmir government.
Raja Farrukh Mumtaz said that if Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi is not released within two hours, PTI workers will protest on the streets. He says that the arrest of the former Prime Minister is illegal and unconstitutional, which we strongly condemn.
He has been detained in Prime Minister Anwarul Haq’s constituency on his instructions. He further said that the Anwar government, frightened by the popularity of PTI in Azad Kashmir, has resorted to high-handed tactics, which will never be allowed to succeed.
