ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): In a move to protect citizens from cyberattacks, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued a warning over the increasing complaints of users being deceived through fake links on social media.

According to PTA, when a user clicks on a certain unknown link, the hackers steal their data including their bank information through mobile accounts which also leads to financial losses.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is continuously receiving complaints in which links are being sent to various users on social media or other platforms under reward schemes.

The PTA has warned not to click on any suspicious links, especially those links that promise to reward users if shared in 5 to 10 groups.

Such schemes are fraudulent and through them hackers can steal users’ personal information and cause harm.

The authority has warned the public to refrain from sharing any unknown or suspicious link, otherwise they will be responsible for any possible loss.

If any user finds any such fraudulent link, he can immediately inform the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) via email.
