ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has failed to bring a no-confidence motion against Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq due to deepening internal divisions.

A key parliamentary meeting held by the PPP in Islamabad was expected to finalize the move. However, party sources reveal that major leaders were either absent or unwilling to cooperate. Chaudhry Latif Akbar did not attend the session due to differences with the leadership, while Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin is currently in London. As a result, the party could not gather the required numbers to proceed with the motion.

The PPP is currently facing a visible internal split, with the formation of at least four opposing factions led by Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, Chaudhry Yasin, Chaudhry Latif Akbar, and Sardar Yaqoob. These growing cracks have not only stalled important decisions but have also started to hurt the party’s image within the assembly.

Political analysts believe that if these internal issues are not addressed soon, the PPP could suffer significant political damage in the near future. The situation has highlighted the need for stronger unity within the party ranks, especially when aiming for major political maneuvers like a no-confidence motion.

Meanwhile, public criticism is also growing over the PPP and PML-N’s recent inclusion of leaders from other parties. Many are calling it “lotacracy” — a term describing opportunistic party-switching — and say it reflects negatively on democratic values.

With political instability on the rise and PPP’s internal tensions out in the open, the road ahead appears increasingly challenging for the party.
