PMD warns of flash floods as another spell of rains to hit country from 27th

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Another spell of heavy rain is expected to batter parts of the country from July 27 to July 31, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

In an alert, it warned that heavy rainfall is expected from July 27 to July 31, which could lead to flash floods in streams and rivers and a flood-like situation in low-lying areas.
The Meteorological Department has warned that heavy rains are expected in various parts of the country.

All relevant departments have been instructed to remain alert, while citizens have been appealed to take precautionary measures, avoid unnecessary travel, and refrain from going near rivers and streams.

According to the Meteorological Department, monsoon winds are entering the upper central areas of the country with low intensity, and monsoon winds are expected to enter the upper areas of the country with increased intensity from July 28.

A series of westerly winds is also expected to enter the upper areas of the country on July 28, under the influence of which intermittent rain with strong winds and thunderstorms is expected in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur, with heavy rainfall expected at a few places.

Meanwhile, from July 27 to July 31, intermittent rain with strong winds and thunderstorms is also expected in Gilgit-Baltistan and Astore, Naltar, Skardu, Gilgit, Ghanche, Shigar, with heavy rainfall expected at a few places.

In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa intermittent rain is expected from July 28 to July 31 with strong winds and thunderstorms is expected in Dir, Chitral, Swat Kohistan, Shangla, Balgram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Malakand, Khyber Pass, Orakzai, Kurram, Kohat, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Hangu, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Tank, and Dera Ismail Khan.
