MUZAFFATABAD: In a recent development, the Azad Kashmir government has released new rate for the broiler and breeder chickens.

According to the new notification issued by the Office of Additional District Commissioner (General) Muzaffarabad, the new prices of live chicken, broiler are at Rs. 430 per kilo and sale price of broiler chicken meat is Rs. 700- per kilogram.

In addition, broiler chicken breeder, live, are priced at Rs. 370 per kilo, Whereas the selling rate of the broiler chicken, breeder meat is Rs. 470 per kilogram.

Pure domestic chicken and golden chicken have been priced at Rs. 1050 per kilogram and Rs. 850 per kilogram, respectively. Prices of eggs per dozen for eggs weighing 40-50 grams have been fixed at Rs. 210- and for those weighing 51-65 grams at Rs. 230.

According to the notification these rates will come effect from today February 2, 2025. Shopkeepers will also have to advertise on a hoarding the rate list which they will be required to display in a conspicuous place.

They are not allowed to keep more than two broiler chicken meats for sale at a time. The government has particularly highlighted the significance of keeping shops and markets clean.

New Chicken Prices

For any grievance or complaint, public are requested to approach the respective authorities or representatives such as Assistant Commissioner Muzaffarabad, Assistant Commissioner Rural Muzaffarabad, Municipal Magistrate Muzaffarabad, Extra Assistant Commissioner Muzaffarabad, Tehsildar Muzaffarabad, and Naib Tehsildar Muzaffarabad.

According to the Department, the public may report cases where prices exceed allowed rates and practices are not adopted. This move aims to bring relief to customers and also promotes a level playfield between trading parties.

By fixing the rates of essential food items government aims to provide relief to the consumers and to promote fair market competition. The public is advised to be aware of their rights and to report any violations of the approved rates to the relevant authorities.
