MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Muzaffarabad Food Authority has intensified its ongoing campaign against unregistered, substandard, and potentially harmful food items being sold in the region. The latest operations were carried out on Neelum Valley Road at the Deolian checkpoint, where food authority teams inspected food items being transported in delivery vehicles.

The team conducted complete inspections on all food supplies accessing or leaving the area while focusing their examination on both food standards and documentation requirements. Then the Food Authority team conducted a complete market inspection of Deolian as well as Panjgran Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), market facilities where they inspected multiple food product vendors.

The team conducting the inspection confiscated unregistered cooking oil along with ghee because they did not conform to the regulatory requirements established by the authority. The authority determined the consumable goods unsuitable for human use because of doubtful quality along with missing valid documentation. Officials noted that such items pose a serious health risk to the public.

Several food business operators were penalised during the operation. The authority issued fines and warning notices to vendors and business owners who were found violating the prescribed standards and safety protocols. Many were not following the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) set by the Muzaffarabad Food Authority.

Food authorities reminded all sellers during inspections about the mandatory requirement to follow the Food Authority Act of 2017 regulations. The officials warned that any violation of rules would lead to severe enforcement through the Act. All food business operators needed to establish immediate product registration alongside quality control measures to guarantee public safety.

The Muzaffarabad Food Authority maintained its dedication to ensuring safety coupled with hygiene standards in every available market food product while upholding legal requirements. The continuing operation forms a central part of a program seeking to defend public health from unsafe food products and substandard or prohibited items.
