MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Muzaffarabad Food Authority continues its operations in line with the directives issued by the Supreme Court of Pakistan, sealing a fast-food centre today for hygiene violations.
In a recent crackdown, a popular fast food centre located in the Shaukat Line area of Muzaffarabad Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) was sealed for violating the Food Authority Act of 2017. Poor sanitation practices existed at the food center where significant dirt alongside filth accumulated in the production area. Some food items contained insects along with no established systems to control pests.
The Food Authority team discovered that a major multinational firm was facing penalties because it operated ice cream and chocolate sales without a proper permit during their inspection. The company had to comply with registration obligations to authority institutions while presenting documented quality control results per regulations. This operation remained active to maintain the safety standards of food products reaching the public.
Assistant Food Safety Officer, Qazi Shafiq Rehman, emphasised that the Food Authority’s actions would continue against businesses that fail to meet hygiene and safety standards. “Our priority is to provide the public with quality food,” Rehman stated. “The Food Authority team in Muzaffarabad is committed to ensuring that only safe and healthy food reaches consumers.”
Sardar Sohail Azam, who serves as Secretary of Food, along with Abdul Hamid Kayani, who holds the Director of Food position, have announced that food businesses maintaining high quality standards will operate in the region. This emphasized the need to follow the Food Authority Act together with its standard operating procedures. The failure to meet regulations results in immediate legal consequences according to their warning.
Food Authority officials continue their ongoing operation against food safety violations to fulfill their mission providing public health safety to the entire region. Local food business operators must follow food safety standards because failing to do so will produce legal consequences which simultaneously protect the health of their customers.
