PESHAWAR (Kashmir English): The Provincial Management Service (PMS) Association Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has announced one-day salary donation to support the flood victims and rehabilitation efforts in the province.
Devastating cloudbursts and flash flooding caused widespread destruction across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, claiming over 300 lives in the province alone during the ongoing monsoon season.
In an official letter addressed to the Secretary Finance, Government of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Chairman PMS Association, Noman Wazir, expressed heartfelt condolences to the families affected by the disaster.
The Officers Association acknowledged the tragic loss of lives, homes, and livelihoods while expressing solidarity with the victims in this critical time.
The officers, who are actively engaged in field operations as well as office-based coordination around the clock, have pledged to stand shoulder to shoulder with the people and the provincial government in providing relief to the affectees.
“Our officers are performing their duties 24/7 in this humanitarian situation, and we assure our all-out support for the affected communities,” the statement read.
Flood relief fund
As a mark of compassion, the PMS Association formally requested for the deduction of one-day salary of all PMS officers in the province to contribute towards the flood relief fund.
The Association’s chairman, Noman Wazir, however, gone a step further by requesting that his entire one-month salary be donated to support the victims.
The move by the PMS Association has been widely appreciated, as government departments, civil society, and relief agencies continue to mobilize resources to address the humanitarian crisis.
