MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Recent heavy rains have in significant damage across various districts of Azad Kashmir, including the loss of life.
In a statement on Monday, the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) said that the continuous rains since April 16 have resulted in loss of life, injuries, and damage to homes, shops, and infrastructure.
As per details, one person was killed and three people were injured across Azad Kashmir. Apart from that, one house was completely destroyed, 68 houses were partially damaged, 9 shops were affected, and 2 cattle sheds were damaged.
In addition to that, five schools and one dispensary were partially damaged.
SDMA, in a statement, added that one person died in Muzaffarabad, while one was injured, and 12 houses were partially damaged in the Muzaffarabad district.
According to the SDMA official, a 17-year-old student, Umar Tariq, died after a tree fell on him during the stormy weather on April 19.
In Jhelum Valley, one person was injured and four houses were partially damaged during recent rains.
One house was completely destroyed, 25 houses were partially damaged, 2 shops were damaged, 1 cattle shed was destroyed, and 2 schools were partially affected in the Poonh district.
Furthermore, in Sudhnoti, one person was injured, 26 houses were partially damaged, 7 shops were damaged, 1 cattle shed was destroyed, and 3 schools and 1 dispensary were partially affected. While one house was partially affected in the Kotli district.
No reports of damage have been received from Neelum, Bagh, Bhimber, and Mirpur districts so far, the SDMA statement said.
