MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The ongoing heatwave across Pakistan is expected to persist for another three to four days, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
Temperatures in the northern regions are also forecast to remain 5 to 7 degrees Celsius above normal.

Azad Kashmir and other upper areas are likely to witness an increase in temperature as well, though light drizzles are expected over the hills. The Met Office has already issued a heatwave warning for most parts of the country, predicting extreme temperatures to last until May 20.

The weather in most parts of Balochistan is expected to remain hot and dry experiencing a heatwave. With the pre-monsoon rains coming to an end, the entire province is under the spell of dry heat.

Over the following three to four days, the nation is predicted to experience a severe heatwave. The majority of the country is anticipated to see hot, dry weather, with the plains experiencing extremely scorching conditions during the day.

However, remote parts of Kashmir and the surrounding hill regions can get partly overcast weather with afternoon thunderstorms, wind, or light rain. From May 16 to 19, daytime temperatures in the upper part of the country, which includes central and upper Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, are expected to stay 5 to 7 degrees Celsius above average.

The entire province of Sindh will continue to be extremely hot and dry. Most of Balochistan is also anticipated to see hot, dry weather, with the southern areas experiencing extremely scorching temperatures. During this time, gusty winds are probable.

From May 16 to 20, temperatures in the southern areas, including Sindh, southern Punjab, and Balochistan, are expected to stay 4 to 6 degrees Celsius above average.
Extremely hot and dry conditions are anticipated in Islamabad, with the possibility of partially cloudy skies and strong afternoon winds.

The weather in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is expected to be hot and dry most of the day, with extremely scorching temperatures in the central and southern regions. In the afternoon, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Battagram, and Kohistan may get light rain or thunderstorms. The majority of Punjab’s districts are predicted to experience extreme hot conditions.

However, in the afternoon, there may be light rain and dust-raising winds in remote places, including Murree, Galliyat, Rawalpindi, Talagang, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Sheikhupura, and Lahore.

On Thursday, Dadu and Turbat were recorded as the hottest places in the country, with temperatures soaring to 48°C. The day before, Dera Ghazi Khan experienced 47°C, while Bhakkar, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, and Nokundi recorded highs of 46°C.
