Has SBP issued new currency note of Rs1000 denomination

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The claims are circualting on social media that the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has issued a new currency note of Rs1000 denomination. Users have shared several videos and photos social media platforms shwoing the new currency note.

The videos shared on TikTok and other platforms have millions of views in the past 24 hours.

However, SBP has issued a statment, denying the fact that it has issued new currency note for Rs1000 denomination. The central bank said that currency note shown in the viral video is completely fake.

The SBP said that  if a new currency note were to be issued, it would be officially announced.

It stated that the information would be provided on the official website and social media channels that the news notes have been entered into circulation. Therefore, the public should avoid being misled by such content, the statement added.

It is pretient to mention that earlier this year State Bank of Pakistan Governor Jameel Ahmad said the central bank would issue the first new currency note in the second half of 2025, replacing all the existing notes one by one.
