ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): On April 6, the PPP Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) appointed conveners in ten districts to conduct organisational elections within 15 days, as notified by the party’s Secretary General in Islamabad.

In a significant organisational move, the Pakistan People’s Party Azad Jammu and Kashmir (PPP AJK) has issued a formal notification for the appointment of conveners across ten districts as part of its internal restructuring process. These conveners have been tasked with conducting organisational elections in their respective districts within 15 days.

The notification, signed by Secretary General PPP AJK Faisal Mumtaz Rathore and approved by President PPP AJK Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin, states that the district-level conveners will submit their election results and recommendations to the party’s central office for final approval and formal announcement of new office-bearers.

As per the official notification (Ref: FMR/210), the appointed conveners and their respective districts for the organisational elections are Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin for Kotli, Chaudhry Latif Akbar for Muzaffarabad, Sardar Yaqoob Khan for Poonch, Chaudhry Pervaiz Ashraf for Bhimber, Faisal Mumtaz Rathore for Haveli, Mian Waheed for Neelum, Ashfaq Zafar for Jhelum Valley, Qasim Majid for Mirpur, Zia-ul-Qamar for Bagh and Ghazi Manzoor for Sudhanoti.

These convener positions require the oversight of fair internal polling and the duty to send office-bearer recommendations to the central party headquarters by the predefined deadlines.

Sardar Zia-ul-Qamar received an appointment as convener for the PPP Youth Organisation AJK reorganisation while continuing his duties as district convener. Nabila Ayub holds the position of restructuring the PPP Women’s Wing across the designated region.

The move is seen as a step towards strengthening the party’s grassroots structure and preparing for future political challenges in Azad Kashmir. Party officials have urged all conveners and district committees to follow the prescribed procedures and ensure transparency in the election process.

The notification concludes with an advisory that any disputes during the process may be referred directly to the central leadership before the final deadline.
