MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Chief Justice Azad Kashmir High Court, Justice Sardar Liaquat Shaheen, has taken strict notice of flawed police investigations, factually incorrect record-keeping in the revenue department, and inappropriate treatment of petitioners at subordinate courts and issued orders for disciplinary and punitive action for the wrongdoers.
Following the directives of the Chief Justice of the High Court, the Inspector General of Police has immediately initiated the process of completing investigation into serious crimes and murder cases under the supervision of senior officers.
The CPO has instructed police chiefs of all districts to ensure transparency in the scrutiny of ongoing investigations and to complete challans in a timely manner. As a result of these orders, signs of improvement in the investigative system have begun to appear in several districts.
Meanwhile, following complaints received from overseas Pakistanis, Chief Justice Sardar Liaquat Shaheen has also directed immediate action against corrupt elements in the revenue department, police, and subordinate judiciary.
In the three districts of Mirpur Division, action is being taken against corrupt employees in light of these complaints.
CJ High Court hears cases
The Chief Justice of the High Court continued hearing cases in all circuit benches, including Muzaffarabad, as a vocational judge even during judicial holidays, establishing a tradition of issuing immediate orders after initial hearings on new applications.
Problems faced by petitioners, especially delays in obtaining copies of judicial records or complaints of illegal fees, have been immediately declared actionable.
The Chief Justice also instructed the heads of the revenue department and police to prepare lists of “black sheep” within their departments and to set a timeframe for immediate and effective action based on complaints received against them.
