PALANDRI, AJK (Kashmir English): Neglect and lack of maintenance by the Azad Kashmir Highway Department has left Azad Pattan to Pattan Sher Khan Kaliari Road in ruins, it has been observed.

The dilapidated road has been a source of continued inconvenience and distress for the citizens while the officials of Highway department Sudhanoti failed to take action to redress public grievance.

For many years, announcements were made for the construction of this road, but so far, the tender for this highway has not been issued.

Public and political circles have started protesting over the non-issuance of the tender for the road maintenance.

According to details, the Azad Pattan to Pattan Sher Khan Kaliari Road, known as the highway, was built for defence purposes.

The road connects seven districts and two capitals, Islamabad and Muzaffarabad.

There is no permanent staff deputed for the maintenance of the road. Public and political circles have demanded the government to redress public grievance before they block the Azad Pattan bridge and lodge protest.
