RAWALAKOT (Kashmir English): ASI Abdul Rauf was laid to rest yesterday with full state honours in Rawalakot after being killed in a shooting, with police officials, government representatives, and the public attending his funeral.
The funeral prayers for Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Abdul Rauf, who was tragically killed in a shooting incident yesterday, were offered and he was laid to rest with full state honours in his ancestral graveyard in Akhorban.
A large number of people, including senior police officials, government representatives, and members of the public, attended the funeral to pay their last respects. Among those present were Inspector General of Police (IGP) Azad Kashmir Abdul Jabbar, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Dr Liaqat, Commissioner Poonch, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bagh Raja Muhammad Akmal, SSP Poonch Rawalakot Khurram Iqbal, SP Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Muhammad Riaz Mughal, Deputy Commissioner Poonch Rawalakot, Deputy Commissioner Bagh, and SP Haveli Kahuta.
Workers from every law enforcement department in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and important social figures together with political representatives united with the family and citizens of the town to honor ASI Abdul Rauf after his sudden death. His fatal death transmitted profound dismay throughout the area, thus revealing the dangers that police officers accept when enforcing the law.
People showed sympathy to the bereaved family during the funeral, which honored the contributions that the fallen officer dedicated to his profession. Police department officials provided the deceased family with complete backing while promising to conduct investigations leading to the perpetrators’ arrests.
The police force along with all members of the community have sustained a severe loss with ASI Abdul Rauf’s martyrdom. His dedication to duty along with his commitment to public service will be remembered and deeply respected.
